Something unusual that happened that day

Today was the best day in my life! There are times where we our lives get brightened up by certain causes and there are times also where our lives are affected or troubled by certain problems too. Earlier this afternoon, I attended my CCA and was on my way to my grandmother's house. Soon, I boarded a bus (Well, I forget the bus service number) and arrived at my destination within a few minutes. As I alight from the bus, I noticed a little boy wearing a blue cap was standing behind a pillar crying softly. I walked towards the back of the pillar and saw something which I felt was inhuman. The boy's body was covered with bruises and blood. Poor boy! I looked at the boy and knew that someone had obviously abused him. The boy looked at my with its tearful eyes and continued to cry sorrowfully. The boy's wounds and blood softened my heart. Right at this moment, my hand phone rang. I picked up my phone and my mum told me to hurry as my grandmother and her were waiting for me to have lunch together. I asked the boy if he needs any help but nothing could be heard except for his cries. I told him to go home and rest, but the boy gave me a lost look as though he has no "home". I gave him a quick look and quickly ran to my grandmother's house. When I arrived at grandmother's house, I told my mum about the little boy and she told me to bring her to the bus stop where the boy was. My grandmother, my mum and me went to the bus stop but to my surprised, the boy had disappeared. My mum thought that I lied to her and said that I was wasting her time, but I was very sure that I saw the boy. I asked a few people sitting at the bus stop if they had seen a boy crying behind a pillar, but none of them saw the boy. I described the boy's physical appearance but none of them knew the the boy. I was about to give up when a man in his late forties told me that an accident had happened here and that the the boy's parents were killed and that the boy was sent to an orphanage but soon died. The reason how he died was not discovered and that when he died, he was wearing a blue cap too. At the news of this, I was horrified. What had I seen? I was about to turn my head back and asked the man more details about the boy but the man was nowhere to be seen. My mum and grandmother were also stunned. They had saw the man right in front of their eyes, but how could the man ran away in such a short timing. We knew this was something very unusual. After that, we went to have our lunch and soon my father came to pick me and my mother. We told him about the unusual incident but he simply laughed and said that we were making up stories. Who could the man I was talking to be? Was he the deceased boy's father? Did I really see the boy? Was the whole incident an illusion?

A problem you encountered and how you solved or managed

Housework is really a troublesome chore to me. I never managed to complete my housework duties assigned to me without encountering any hiccups along the way. This traumatizing experience is still etched deeply into my memory. I came back from school one day and my mum asked me to do some housework and help out in spring cleaning as the lunar new year is approaching. After cleaning heartily for a while, my mum went out do buy something and told me to tidy my room seriously and not to joke around. As soon as my mum left the house, I started cleaning the windows and door in my room. I stared at the thick layer of dust that covered every inch of the room and wondered when was the last time I made an effort to clean my room. Housework is really burdensome and annoying task to do! A short while after my mum left, I felt bored and decided to rest for a few minutes. Well, I sat on the sofa and started to slack and relax. As I had nothing to do and was bored, so I took the broom on my hand and started swinging it around. The feeling was great and exuberant and if anyone were around, they would have thought that I was crazy! Just as I was feeling spirited and happy, my nightmare came true! As I swing the broom around my head, the broom hit my mum's vase and it fell on to the ground and smashed into pieces. A sense of guilt overcame me as I watched the pieces of porcelain lie shattered on the ground. Oh no! The vase was my mum's favorite and was the most expensive vase that she had ever bought. I knew that I was in deep trouble. I would definitely get reprimanded by my mother when she comes home. Oh no! My thoughts were whirling in my mind. I was in a dilemma. My mum would be back home in a few minutes time. I had no more time to waste. I quickly threw my broom aside and started picking up the shattered pieces of porcelain with my hands. Right at this moment, I heard the key turn in the keyhole and I knew that my mum was outside the door. Anxiety and fear flooded my heart. Ouch! Owing to my clumsiness and nervousness, I scratched my finger while picking the shattered pieces of porcelain and soon blood oozed out of my wound. The door opened and my mem stepped in. She saw me sitting on the floor with teary eyes and bloody fingers and knew what went wrong. Without any hesitation, my mum put down her groceries and went to fetch the plasters and antiseptic lotion. As she cleaned and wrapped my wound, I admitted to her that I broke her favorite vase and I was expecting her to scold me for not doing the housework seriously. To my surprise, she told me that safety was more important than her vase. Safety is more important than the money required to buy the expensive vase. From this accident, not only did I learn my lesson to take housework seriously, I realized that money is only a form of materialistic assets and that kinship is the most important thing of all.

A moment spent alone doing something you enjoyed

I have been playing a Chinese instrument, the erhu, ever since I joined Victoria School Chinese Orchestra (VSCO) in secondary one. The erhu is a very beautiful instrument which emits beautiful and soothing sound when it is played. I love spending my time playing the erhu alone. Let me describe the physical features of the erhu. The erhu is an instrument that consists of mainly two strings and a bow. The erhu is also consists of a small part made of snake's skin. I like playing the erhu as the sound that it emits is not ear-deafening but instead pleasant and nice. When I am alone at home, I will play my erhu and sit on bed to enjoy the melodious music. I like the erhu most as compared to any other Chinese instruments. During Chinese Orchestra (CO) practices, I usually treasure the time and moment that I spend with my erhu. Time is precious and priceless. The erhu is like my child. Every parent showers their children with love and care. Thus, this same would apply to my erhu. I will treat my erhu with care and respect. I will never leave my erhu around on the floor at home or in the CO room in school. I feel that we the younger generations should continue playing this instrument so that such tradition would be passed down from one generation to another generation. Playing the erhu makes me feel relaxed and happy; thus, I loved to play the erhu alone.

Something that took place in school

Today was the worst day I had experienced in my life. We are prone to many dangers and risks around us such as car accident, bicycle accidents, sports accident and even common accidents such as slipping and falling. Sometimes accidents are unpredictable thus accidents can be prevented if everyone plays their part to ensure that they are in a safe environment. Unfortunately, bad luck fall upon my good friend, Brian. The school bell rang as usual signaling the start of recess. Students could be seen streaming down the corridor. As Brian and I loves playing soccer, we ran down to the field as quickly as possible to occupy the field. Soon, most of my classmates came down to the field and we were all ready to start our friendly soccer match soon. Brian was assigned to be the goalkeeper and I was assigned as the defender in the same team as Brian. We started the match and everybody were all chasing after the ball. After a few rounds of kicking and running, the opposite team came close to the goalpost and was about to score. I tried my very best to block them but to no avail. All our hopes on saving the ball were pinned on Brian. As the player of the opposite team kicks the ball towards the goalpost swiftly, Brian held up his arms ready to catch the ball. The ball bounced off his hand and dropped on the ground ready to roll into the goalpost. Brian saw this and quickly dived to the ground. Right at this moment, he landed on the ground with his finger pointing towards the floor. I could hear Brian crying out loud and screaming. Tears were rolling down his puffy cheeks. I ran towards Brian and support him up from he ground. His finger was swollen red. I helped Brian to the general office. After that, Brian was asked to stay at the sick bay. I was told to leave as the staff didn't want too many people to crowd around the general office. Till now, I am still thinking about Brian's health. How is he now? Thus, from this accident, I learn that accidents may happened anytime and anywhere. We should not do dangerous stunts or acts that might yourself or even others. Brian's finger was swollen due to him diving down towards the ball. Safety first, learn to protect and care for yourself .

A special moment you enjoyed with your family

We had a wonderful dinner today! We dined out at "Mr Chicken Rice", which is in Downtown Town East, for a celebration (My sister decided to treat us to dinner because she received the Edusave Merit Bursary this afternoon). Usually, we do not have dinner as a whole family because all of us would be busy with our own activities and some of us would reach home quite late. Thus, the dinner we had today was a special event. We ordered a whole chicken. Yummy, yum, yum! The chicken meat was really tender and 'Q'. It felt as though the meat was a spring and had tension, and it bounced in my mouth as I chewed on it! The tasty juice from succulent chicken meat oozed out and spilled into my mouth with each bite! I could feel the juice flowing down my throat and esophagus into my stomach! Even right now, I am still drooling as I think about the tenderness and juiciness of the chicken meat! To all lovers of chicken rice, this chicken rice is definitely a 'must try', even though I sounded quite exaggerated. Anyway, that was slightly out of point. In addition to the whole chicken that we had ordered, we also had plates of fried tofu, stir-fried vegetables and beansprouts, and a bowl of mouthwatering cabbage soup. Of course, not to forget the fragrant chicken rice. Despite describing so much about my scrumptious dinner, the main aim of my post is emphasis the point about family bonding. During the weekdays, we do not see other family members very frequently as we are either in school or at work most of the time. Even when we return home at night, we would either be too tired to engage in a conversation or busy with our homework that had to be handed up the next day. It is very difficult and rare to find an occasion where everyone is free to sit down together in a relaxed manner and talk about daily happenings. Having dinner together with the whole family is a good time for the whole family to bond and understand each other better, especially when all of us have hectic schedules. Even though there are special occasions like Lunar New Year's Eve, for our family members to dine together on the same table and catch up with the past, these occasions only occur rarely. During the conversation that we at dinner today, I got to know about what my sister did during her school camp, what my brother did during his attachment and what my mother did at home when everyone was out. It was an enjoyable meal, a special moment that we all share. I really hope that everyone would treasure every single dining moment or family gatherings with their family members. TREASURE ALL THE SPECIAL MOMENTS YOU HAVE WITH YOUR FAMILY!

Yes, I remembered to update my blog!!
Well, this was what happened today. Early in the morning, I had lessons with Ding Ni!! She actually continued to teach Chapter 3 even though she had not gone through all the keywords in Chapter 2! Maybe she expected us to self study the keywords. Finally, the next lesson we had was conducted by Mrs Rama. We had to write an essay about William Shakespeare! I wrote a total of 231 words for that essay. It was quite a surprising breakthrough for me. After recess, we had lab lessons. 2I broke the record for breaking the most number of test tubes in a day. Oliver, Zhe Xun and Xuan Ying broke a test tube each. Guess what Zhe Xun said after paying $1 for the test tube? "So cheap argh?" I hope that they learnt their lessons. There was nothing much extraordinary during our English lessons that day. To end the day, I had CCA. Chinese Orchestra! DA ZU!!! I thought today's 'da zu' session would have been a successful one if not because of the percussion section. They ruined it! Joking! I played horribly too. Mr Goh was very angry with all of us! After practice, Durian (Yong Siang) scolded us too. Well, I hope tomorrow would be a better day for me!

I had a great day in school today!!! Our History Teacher, Mr Seng, showed us videos on Singapore's History. Awesome! I didn't know who John Crafford (I think that's his name) is until I watched the video! During our PE Theory lesson, we took measurements for our height and weight. Most of us were 'monkeying' around the pull-up bars trying our luck to pull ourselves up after we had taken their height and weight. I think that's all for today.
