I have been playing a Chinese instrument, the erhu, ever since I joined Victoria School Chinese Orchestra (VSCO) in secondary one. The erhu is a very beautiful instrument which emits beautiful and soothing sound when it is played. I love spending my time playing the erhu alone. Let me describe the physical features of the erhu. The erhu is an instrument that consists of mainly two strings and a bow. The erhu is also consists of a small part made of snake's skin. I like playing the erhu as the sound that it emits is not ear-deafening but instead pleasant and nice. When I am alone at home, I will play my erhu and sit on bed to enjoy the melodious music. I like the erhu most as compared to any other Chinese instruments. During Chinese Orchestra (CO) practices, I usually treasure the time and moment that I spend with my erhu. Time is precious and priceless. The erhu is like my child. Every parent showers their children with love and care. Thus, this same would apply to my erhu. I will treat my erhu with care and respect. I will never leave my erhu around on the floor at home or in the CO room in school. I feel that we the younger generations should continue playing this instrument so that such tradition would be passed down from one generation to another generation. Playing the erhu makes me feel relaxed and happy; thus, I loved to play the erhu alone.
